Safety & Security Information

One of the goals of Camp GC Ministry is to provide a safe, secure, and loving environment for children.  In an effort to accomplish this we have several security measures in place to protect our children, their parents or guardians, and the General Council.

  • Camp GC Security Team
    • Camp GC and the General Council employ security personnel to ensure a safe and secure environment in the Camp GC area.
  • Camp GC Staff and Volunteer Identification
    • All adults in the Camp GC area are required to wear a Camp GC nametag and a Camp GC Staff Shirt as a means of identifying them as an adult authorized to be present. These staff members have also had a background check as well as been recommended for work with children by their church pastoral staff.
  • Child Security Tags
    • All children must be signed in and out of their rooms using our check-in system
  • Child to Volunteer Ratio and Room Capacity Limits
    • Camp GC will adhere to its established limits based on state guidelines for childtovolunteer ratios and room capacities in order to protect the safety of the children and ensure the best experience for both children and volunteers.
  • Bathroom Policy
    • For the safety of the child(ren) as well as your own… Bathrooms inside the Camp GC area are to be used ONLY by children except when children are not present in the Camp GC area.

Lost Parent/Guardian Policy

When a child is in Camp GC care we take that child’s safety and security very seriously. And while we know that when children are with the Camp GC staff that they are safe and secure we don’t always know that their parents or guardians are safe.

The posted times become a guide to alerting the Camp GC team that something may be amiss with a parent or guardian if they are late in picking up their child(ren).

The beginning of Camp GC services are as follows:

  • Morning – 8:30 am
  • Afternoon – 2:00 pm
  • Evening – 7:00 pm
  • Late Night – 9:00 pm

Each service our team will be ready to accept children 30 minutes prior to the beginning of our services.

The end of Camp GC services are as follows

  • Morning – 12:00 pm
  • Afternoon – 4:30 pm
  • Evening – 9:00 pm
  • Late Night – 11:59 pm

Children will must be picked up by 30 minutes after the posted end of service.

To assure that parents or guardians have not become “lost” we will follow these steps beginning at 20 minutes after the posted end of service:

  1. at 20 minutes after the posted end time a 10-minute closing reminder text will be sent to the listed parents or guardians of the children still remaining in Camp GC care.
  2. at 25 minutes after the posted end time a 5-minute closing reminder text will be sent to the listed parents or guardians of the children still remaining in Camp GC care.
  3. at 30 minutes after the posted end time a phone call stating that Camp GC has closed will be made to the listed parents or guardians of the children still remaining in Camp GC care.
  4. at 40 minutes after the posted end time we will follow all step 3 calls and contact the General Council Security Director.
  5. at 60 minutes after the posted end time if parents or guardians cannot be contacted local authorities will be called.

It’s volunteers like you that make this program possible! We had so much fun last council at CampGC19.

To volunteer with us there are just a few qualifications:

  • You must be at least 18 years of age
  • The church you attend must have a current background check on file for you
  • One of your pastoral staff members at the church you attend must be able to recommend you
  • Experience: We prefer that you have had some amount of Children’s Ministries experience in your home church

If you meet these qualifications, are accepted as a volunteer and can join us in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Center from July 31 – August 4, 2019 then we would love to have you!
