Bible Fact Pak Advantage Series-Start Your Engines

General idea: Teams of children race to push their Hot Wheels car across the room to a chosen finish line

 

Items needed: selected JBQ questions, Hot Wheels cars, tape

 

Set up:

Divide the students into teams of 3-5 with one leader to read questions for each team

Each team needs one Hot Wheels car

Use tape to create a finish line on the other side of the room

 

The game:

When you say GO, each team leader begins by asking a JBQ question to the first person in line of each team.  If the student gets the answer correct, they get to push their team’s car as far as they can and returns to the back of the line.  Leave the car wherever it stops.  Play continues until the first team pushes their car across the finish line.

 

Tips/ideas:

As the car gets further from the starting rotation, keep the team lines in one spot.  When a child correctly answers a question, have them run to their car and push it and run back and tag the next team member in line.

If a child does not know the answer, give them the freedom to ask anyone on their team for help.  Team members can give the answer to the child answering who can then give the reader the answer. 

Children (especially boys) will try to push their car very hard, often times causing it to flip and roll.  Make a roll that if the car flips or rolls, that it will be placed at that location, not where it stops.
