Simple Steps to Make a Shared Classroom Fit Your Ministry Theme

In the ideal world, every Girls Ministries sponsor of every club would have a great classroom space to decorate beautifully. Some groups may be blessed to have their own private space, but most find themselves sharing with another ministry within the church building. It doesn’t take long for a room to look like a storage closet with leftover holiday decorations, papers left from other ministries, and nothing that uniquely says to girls, “This is YOUR room!” No matter the circumstances, there are ways to personalize a space and freshen it up for the girls. Can You Conquer the Cards

Each year at our local church, we attempt to find creative strategies to walk this fine line. We’ve done the stickers, JBQ store, end-of-year parties, attendance rewards, and more—all with varying degrees of success. With the upcoming 2016-17 season, we met to discuss what this year’s new-and-improved system would be. The Holiday Event We Never Had

Along the way as a children’s pastor, I learned that a volunteer’s time should be protected. As paid staff, I always got a day off. The day off for my volunteers (from their workaday jobs) is Saturday. I came to realize that if I fill that day with ministry, it’s like me losing my day off. Sometimes it has to be done, but do make an effort to guard your volunteers’ time. Our favorite holiday event was the “Fall Harvest Party” we didn’t have. We replaced it with our annual tradition of a roller-skating party.
