North Carolina District Youth Director

Douglas Witherup serves as the Executive Director of Church Ministries for his tribe of the Assemblies of God in NC, helping to lead ministry for over 300 churches across the state. He also contributes as an adjunct professor at Southeastern University, Trinity Bible College, and Bridges Christian College. Doug has a B.A. from Southeastern University, an MTh. from the University of Wales, Bangor, and a DMin. from George Fox University under the lead mentorship of Leonard Sweet. Doug has a passion for communicating God’s Word with creativity, speaking life into leaders, and building great teams. He is the author of "Interrobang Preaching: (re)Discovering the Communication Secrets of Jesus". He enjoys traveling, the outdoors, reading, and writing. Most of all, Doug loves to spend time with his wife Camden, son Cade, and daughter Ana, especially if it involves going to the beach, the lake, or eating at Gary’s BBQ.



Promotion and Transition

Could there be anything more bittersweet than promoting kids to the youth group? We have invested time, money, and energy into these kids only to say good-bye. Since promotion time is pivotal in the life and health of your church, plan it early in the year and build it into your large and small group curriculums.
